After Being In Space
After Mae's journey into space, she lived a wonderful life. She decided to leave NASA in 1993 and she founded the Jemison group. The Jemison group is an organization that researches, develops, and markets new and modern technologies. Mae never married or had kids, but she did lots of other exciting and interesting stuff and won many awards. The awards she won included the 1988 Essence Science and Technology Award, the Ebony Black Achievement Award in 1992 and a Montgomery Fellowship from Dartmouth College in 1993. Mae also started The Earth We Share. The Earth We Share is a program for 12-16 year olds to help problem-solving skills. An elementary school in Detroit, Michigan is named after her. She is 58 years old and alive today. She currently lives near Hanover, New Hampshire where she teaches. Even though she lives in New Hampshire, she also travels overseas a lot.

Conclusion
I believe that Mae Carol Jemison is an inspiration because she was brave enough to go into space. She was also very intelligent and worked hard to be able to do something like go into space or win all of the awards she did. Lastly, I believe she changed the science community because she showed that gender or race does not change what you can do. I believe that she sparked a spirit to make African-Americans and women go into space because of her bravery.
